Google Analytics Changes are Coming

In 2023 the beloved Google analytics platform will be put to rest and a new platform of analytics will be used. The analytic data will still be available for sixth months after July 1st, 2023. Many people were worried that their data would be eased right away, while all analytic data will be erased after then, you are able to save all the data beforehand. Google analytics have been in operation since 2005, and after many additions and improvements to the site they have still decided to take it down. Many people use this handy site every day, but they have still decided to remove it. The new analytics platform is called GA 4.

A piece of property is an app or website that you are tracking with Google Analytics. Once you set up your new GA 4, you will see your new GA 4 property. Different reports are available for both Google analytics and GA 4 for each property.

There are many differences between Universal Analytics and GA 4. GA 4 is very different than what Universal Analytics has to offer, and it’s built differently to align with current and future needs for reporting. Event-based is a difference that’s a benefit to the new platform, and you are able to track such events as a button being clicked as well as a video plays and more actions a user can make on your website. Cross-device tracking is new on the GA4, it also allows businesses more visibility into their customers utilizing their website across all devises. GA4 uses machine learning technology, also known as AI, it allows the machines to share insights and make predictions. UA relies on cookies and GA4 doesn’t.

Even though we still have some time before Google analytics is taken down switch to GA 4 as soon as you can so you are able to utilize the better features to help aid you more. Adjust your Google Ads conversion tracking, set up or login to your account and complete the conversion. Export your historical reports, make sure you save all of your data from past years of your website. The sooner you start GA4 you will have less historical data to export, and you will be able to use the better and more advanced features of the new platform.

Russell Ketchum, director, product management at Google, he said “Google Analytics was built for a generation of online measurement that was anchored in the desktop web, independent sessions, and more easily observable data from cookies. This measurement methodology is quickly becoming obsolete.” After hearing this we can only have a very big amount of excitement to hear that we can finally have a platform that conforms to what the new world of the web looks like. Universal Analytics is a decade old and we are in dire need of a new platform. Some people may be hurt because it is a system they are used to and they do not want to learn a new system. The system will be new and a little challenging to understand at first, but after it is figured out, it will be much better to use because of all of the features. Either way Google Analytics will be removed on July 1st, 2023.
